Freshwater Fishing

Fresh Water Fishing - Two Nice Size BassCome fish Florida's famed Kissimmee Chain of Lakes for World Class Largemouth Bass. They are the most popular sport fish in Central Florida. Also, Crappie, Sunfish, and Bluegill offer additional angling opportunities during the spring and summer.

The cooler months is when we catch the bigger Bass during spawning time. Areas on the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes containing hydrilla provide an excellent fish habitat. The Kissimmee Chain of Lakes has some of the best fishing for Largemouth Bass.

Tips & Tactics

Largemouth bass anglers are most successful on the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes during the spring, fall and winter months. Crank baits, spinner baits, plastic worms, jerk baits and live shiners are popular baits during peak fishing in the spring (mid-February to April) when fishing is concentrated along the shoreline for spawning fish.

During the late summer and early fall, crank baits and top water can be very effective. In winter wild shiners are mostly used.

Fresh water fishing bassCrappie anglers concentrate their efforts along the lake edges during the winter months.

In late spring, and early fall most anglers fish for crappie drifting open water from the 6 foot to 12 foot range.

Live minnows and crappie jigs are among the most popular baits used. The more rods in the boat the more bites you will have.

Bluegill and Sunfish can be caught in early summer, in shallow water using crickets, minnows, earthworms and small spinner baits

During the remainder of the year they can be caught using the same baits in the deeper water.
